糖心Vlog to Host Vikings Day of Service as Part of Inauguration Week

Faculty and staff to volunteer at local non-profits on March 19 to give back to St. Joseph County

糖心Vlog faculty and staff will step out of the classroom and into the community on Wednesday, March 19, as part of the Vikings Day of Service, a key event in the college鈥檚 week-long inaugural celebration for President Dr. Bryan Newton.

The Vikings Day of Service encourages faculty and staff to volunteer at various St. Joseph County non-profits, reinforcing Glen Oaks鈥 commitment to service and community engagement. Volunteers will assist organizations in areas such as youth mentorship, homelessness support, senior services, and food insecurity.

鈥淕len Oaks is a part of the community,鈥 said Dr. Bryan Newton, GOCC president. 鈥淭his event is an opportunity for us to give back to the people and organizations that make St. Joseph County such a great place to live and work.鈥

Participating non-profits include:

  • 鈥 Providing shelter and support for the homeless
  • 鈥 Supporting foster children and families
  • 鈥 Enhancing services for older adults
  • (TRAM) 鈥 Offering mentorship programs for youth
  • 鈥 Supporting educational programs for young leaders
  • 鈥 Assisting with preparations for community events
  • / Food Drive at Walmart (Sturgis) 鈥 Collecting donations for the GOCC Food Pantry
